Daniel Ciesielski of Cocoa, Florida was born in 1952. Daniel was taught to carve by fellow folk artist and friend Willard Jennings. He started carving folk art style fish decoys in 1997 as an artistic hobby after retirement. His life long love of fishing provides the inspiration for folk art carvings. Daniel also held a 50 Ton Master Mate USCG license and was a charter boat captain. He signed his earliest pieces as Capt. Dan. He has one folk art style fish decoy on display in the Kamloops Museum and art gallery in Kamloops Canada, and another in the American Fish Decoy Museum.
